Insurance Options for The Adventure Travelers RV
Outdoorsy vs. RVshare Pricing Comparisons
Depending on which service you choose, could save you some well-earned money. We work with both Outdoorsy and RVshare because they both bring a certain value to us. When you rent with us, we want you to get the same value as well. Below is a quick breakdown of some cost factors when renting through either company.
Outdoorsy –
- Free RV Vehicle insurance for you, the RV renter
- Outdoorsy offers Coach-Net’s RV Vacation Care Plan to all renters for $15/day USD. Sorry, but this is a mandatory requirement when renting The Adventure Travelers RV, so please add it to the cost of your vacation.
RVshare –
- RVshare insurance is $24.95 / day USD and is a mandatory requirement when renting The Adventure Travelers RV, so please add it to the cost of your vacation.
- RVshare offers Free 24/7 Roadside Assistance to you, the RV renter
Using Your Own Vehicle Insurance
Sorry, but we are not vehicle insurance analysts and we really don’t want to be. We cannot accept an insurance binder from your vehicle insurance, since there are so many different companies that offer so many different policies and we (and you) want to spend our time enjoying life, not protecting ourselves by reading thousands of policies.
To cover ourselves and our renters, we are making it mandatory to get both the RV Vehicle Insurance (free or not) AND the Roadside Assistance (free or not) when you rent with us.
Insuring the RV for a Rental Trip with Outdoorsy
The best part about renting The Adventure Travelers RV through Outdoorsy.com is the standard insurance policy provided by Outdoorsy, which no other rental platform offers! As soon as you pick up the keys, you are covered by a $1M liability / $200k comprehensive and collision policy without having to pay extra, talk to an agent or sign gobs of forms. In many circumstances, you do not have to add coverage or make any changes to your own auto insurance policy, which means less time you need to spend dealing with your insurance company and more time planning your trip! The only requirement is that you pass a DMV driver’s screening (basically, your DMV record is clean) which is done online through Outdoorsy’s website and is usually completed within 24 hours.
Coverage (after deductible) includes:
- Damage to the exterior of the RV from collisions with other vehicles or objects
- Damage to the interior of the RV from accidents inside the coach including RV appliances and internal systems (water, power, etc.)
- Damage to externally attached equipment including the step, vent covers, AC, awning, generator, etc.
- Damage to other 3rd party vehicles or property
Coverage does not include damage to personal items brought into the RV by renters, convenience appliances, and belongings we include as part of the RV (i.e. Toaster, Coffee Maker, etc.) so keep in mind that if these appliances are damaged or missing, we reserve the right to deduct the value from the security deposit.
All that being said, just because Outdoorsy provides its awesome insurance coverage, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful while out on your rental adventure. Any claim submitted for damage to the RV, lost or stolen items may be subject to withholding some or all of the $1,500 security deposit collected at the time of the rental. And if the damage is significant, there is a $1,500 deductible you will be responsible for. Please view The Legal Stuff for more information about our financial disclosures.

*Note: There is a significant deductible applicable to ALL rentals through Outdoorsy (whether ours or another listing). This $1,500 deductible is standard for all rentals through Outdoorsy. For more information, read The Legal Stuff.
Note: Outdoorsy’s insurance coverage is different than its optional 24/7 roadside assistance. Please make sure you select this option if you book our RV (mandatory), which will cover you for any operational issues while renting.
